Deleting your data

Things you can delete yourself

• A mailbox: the delete_mailbox tool, or Mailboxes in the console at /account. The address stops receiving mail at once and its aliases are removed. Its stored messages are kept in our database but are no longer readable through AI Mail, until you remove its domain or your account is deleted.
• A domain and all its mail: the remove_domain tool with delete_mailboxes: true. This deletes the domain, its mailboxes and aliases, and their messages, threads and attachment records from our database. DNS records at your DNS host are left as they are; the tool lists the ones you may want to remove.
• Tokens: revoke_token, or Keys in the console. A revoked token, and every token made from it, stops working at once.
• Connected apps (OAuth): Connected apps in the console.
• Aliases: Aliases in the console.
• Webhooks: the delete_webhook tool.

There is no tool that deletes a single message yet. archive moves messages out of the inbox but keeps them.

What self-service deletion does not remove yet: the original message files and attachment files in object storage are not deleted automatically when a mailbox or domain is removed. They stay in the private bucket, no longer reachable through AI Mail, until we delete them with your account. The audit log, delivery records and usage records are also kept until your account is deleted.

Deleting your whole account

1. Email ben@hapi.vc with the subject Delete my AI Mail account, from the email address your account was created with.
2. Say whether you want the whole account deleted or only some domains or mailboxes. Never send a token itself.

We confirm we received the request within 3 business days, may ask you to prove the account is yours, and complete it within 30 days. The confirmation email includes a reference code you can quote to check the status.

What is deleted with your account

• Your account, the people on it, their console sessions and sign-in links.
• Every domain, mailbox, alias, thread, message and attachment record.
• The original message files and attachment files in object storage.
• Every token, OAuth grant and webhook, which ends all access.
• The audit log, delivery records and usage records for your account.

What we cannot delete for you

• Copies held by the people you sent mail to, forwarded mail to, or delivered webhooks to.
• Records kept by our processors (Cloudflare, Railway) under their own policies, for example their delivery logs. See Privacy. Some earlier mail went out through Resend, which AI Mail no longer uses; its delivery logs are kept under Resend's own policy.
• Copies in any backups our hosting provider keeps of our database, until those backups expire.
